We believe that it makes sense to review portfolios at least annually, and that the decision on whether to rebalance should take transaction costs and taxes into account. In practice, rebalancing tends to make sense if you have strayed more than 5 percentage points from your target (say, if your equities allocation has moved from 60% to 65% or 55%), and if you only rebalance half way back.</description>
